  • How to do the IRS

The delivery of the IRS in 2018, referring to the income earned in 2017, is made between April 1 and May 31, 2018, regardless of the taxpayer income category.

This year it is mandatory to make the delivery via internet, and if you are entitled to a refund from the IRS, it must be done within 20 to 25 days, according to the Tax and Customs Authority.

  • Gather documents

To complete the IRS you will need to collect all the necessary documents such as Model 3 and the respective attachments, the citizen's card or identity card and taxpayer card, including those of the spouse and dependents and / or ascendants of the household. You may have to request for the NIF for your child (ren), if you do not already have it and there are expenses for them declared in the IRS.

You also need the NIB, the income statements issued by the employer and the proofs collected throughout the year, such as the deductible expenses receipts taken over the previous year.

  • Deduct expenses

Don't forget everything you can deduct from the IRS. This includes medical expensives, housing, education, VAT on bills, households, alimony/child support, donations, PPR and pension funds, public capitalization. Don't leave anything out!

  • Simulate IRS

If you complete the IRS declaration online, you can simulate the IRS before validating the declaration, to find out if you will receive or pay. Do not forget to put your NIB to receive the IRS refund in your bank account (if you are entitled to it) earlier.

  • Deliver the IRS

You can then deliver the IRS conveniently at home, over the internet, or you can contact the Best Account and we will deliver it for you.

  • Correct IRS

If you complete the IRS online you can easily correct the statement. The platform itself does not let you deliver the declaration with errors. If you want to change the declaration you submitted, you can make a new declaration, free of charge, as long as it is within the delivery deadline.

  • Get evidence

After submitting to the IRS you can obtain online statements, such as proof of delivery. You can also consult the status of your IRS return.

  • Save documents

Even after submitting the IRS, you should be careful to keep all the papers that you have registered for yourself on the e-invoice portal for 4 years.
